We were nervous…the forecast at the beginning of the week was for rain. Not showers, but full on rain and given the ceremony was planned for the great outdoors, we were keeping our fingers crossed that the forecast was wrong!

Luck was on our side, and we were blessed with a gorgeous day for Ashley and Wade’s wedding! It was a day filled with happiness and emotion. The ceremony was beautiful. I always enjoy watching the groom as he sees his soon-to-be wife for the very first time, and Wade was beaming as he watched his bride walk down the aisle. Ashley simply overflowed with emotion. I love that!!

It was a such a fun day. Thank you Ashley and Wade for inviting us to be a part of your most special day! We wish you a lifetime of love and happiness!

You know it’s going to be a fun wedding when the groom and his men ride down the aisle on their Harleys. And sure enough, this wedding didn’t disappoint!

This past weekend, we were honored to attend the wedding of Gwen and Laverne! A fun group to be with, the ceremony was filled laughter, emotion and of course…bikes. The vrooooom of the engines as four bikes drove towards me down the aisle was quite the introduction to the bride. Gwen was radiant…simply beaming with excitement, and the tough biker in Laverne definitely softened as he watched her walk towards him to become his wife. It was a great day for sure!

Thank you to you both for inviting us to be a part of your special day! We wish you both the best of luck!!

I admit…I’ve been slacking a bit on the blog. I’ve been shooting…but summer has taken over and I have been away on vacation with the people I do it all for…my family!

A little over a week ago, Vanessa and I had a wedding in Olds and Sundre with Kim and Blaine. Severe weather was all about the day previous…horrible thunder storms and a tornado. They were forecasting the same for the wedding day! But we struck gold and it was a beautiful day!

We arrived at a beautiful bed and breakfast to THE MOST CALM bride I have ever seen. We knew it was going to be a fantastic day! The ceremony was held at a beautiful country church. Lots of singing and music, it really was a celebration.

Pictures were a blast! Not only did Kim find us the most amazing location, Kim and Blaine simply had the most amazing chemistry…you could tell that they were simply perfect for each other. The way they looked at each other…well, it just made for some very real pictures. And I love that!

Here is a sneak peak at what I got! Congratulations Kim and Blaine on your marriage! Thanks for inviting us to share in your special day!

Well, I have been back from the Dominican Republic for a couple weeks now and I’m playing catch up! But what a wonderful time I had with a great group of people. I feel so incredibly honored to have been asked to travel with Kylah and Ryan to capture their beautiful wedding! The resort was incredibly beautiful and I got some amazing shots. Such a photogenic and gorgeous couple…how could I not be pleased with the results!!

Thank you so much Kylah and Ryan for inviting me along and including me as part of the group! I can’t wait to do another wedding like this again some day!

Below are a few only! I took a ton of pictures down there and am still going through them all in between all my other sessions!

After 6 months of shooting inside, it was purely blissful to get outside on a beautiful spring evening for an engagement session with Kim and Kyle. Set to get married this September, this fun couple was game for everything as we explored a local park and then took to downtown for a bit of an urban flair. This was a great way to start my wedding season, and I am looking forward to capturing that special day for you guys!!

Some fun products

April 1, 2010

Aside from the photography aspect of Head Over Heels, one of my favorite things is to provide my clients with unique products to showcase their images. By far, the most popular of our products has been mini accordion albums. These 3×3 mini scrapbooks make the greatest gifts for family. They are also the perfect brag books to tuck into a mom’s purse.

Below are some product shots to give you an idea as to what the completed product resembles…

You know it’s going to be a great wedding when you walk in the door for the “Getting Ready” shots, and the bride gives you a great big hug! From the moment I walked through her parents front door, Rae-Anne was simply beaming. Surrounded by close friends, I truly believe she enjoyed every moment of preparation for the day.

From mid-morning mimosa’s…

…to rockin’ out to 80’s music and a most delicious lunch, Vanessa and I truly enjoyed every minute of our time with the girls!!

Held at the Derrick Golf and Country Club, this wedding was stunning. While we had to brave the outdoor, frigid temperatures and even snow for the beautiful outdoor ceremony and for pictures, the venue was perfect and all attention to detail was well looked after.

Rae-Anne had a stunning bouquet filled with bold and vibrant fall colored flowers that simply popped!!

There are so many more that I could post and maybe over the next couple weeks I will post a few more! Thank you both Rae-Anne and John for inviting us out to capture your special day! We had a great time!

On your wedding day, you spend more time with your photographers than with any other person. And on such a special day, it’s ALWAYS an honor when we are chosen. We strive to laugh and make the photo part of the day fun. And fun we had with Taren and Nick!

Taren and Nick eloped. A couple weeks ago, they ran off to get married in Vegas. We knew about it! Nick’s brother and his girlfriend knew about it. But to everyone else it was a secret. Until the week before their “scheduled” wedding…then Nick and Taren let the cat out of the bag. Saturday was their receptions, and after a few family shots we had the majority of the afternoon to get some shots of this fantastic couple!

We really had a great time! These guys were up for anything! And their love for each other was soooooo apparent. It was amazing!

Sheldon and Ashley

September 9, 2009

This past weekend, we had the pleasure of spending the day with Ashley and Sheldon as they exchanged vows and celebrated their marriage. It was a beautiful ceremony and a beautiful day. Ashley was simply beaming with joy as she married her best friend of close to ten years! Sheldon, Ashley and the bridal party were a really fun group, and we enjoyed ourselves immensely. Congratulations to the both of you! We wish you all the best in your future, and we thank you so much for inviting us to share in your joy of the day.

A huge part of my love of photography is the fact that it is an ever evolving art form. Even once you have a solid base of the core skills involved in taking a picture, there will always be more to learn. I am committed to developing my skill and my creativity to become a better photographer. This involves getting out to shoot whenever I can. It also involves attending as many courses as I can!

Almost two weeks ago, I was lucky enough to be able to participate in a Chill Session with Rob and Lauren. . I got in this session as a matter of pure luck…I was the first to email them back after another student had to cancel, and boy am I ever happy to have spent the day with them. In an intimate group of 10, these young and very talented photographers dealt out a wealth of information. The highlight during the day was heading out to shoot newly married Michelle and BJ. It was nice to see how these two interacted with their clients to get the “candid” expressions that I love so much. It was also nice to see how they made potentially mundane backgrounds (i.e. an elementary school) look like such pieces of art.

Here are just a few that I took from the session…I spent more time watching Rob and Lauren than shooting and I found it hard to get the angles I wanted with so many paparazzi trying to shoot Michelle and BJ.

They are definately urban and not my typical style…though I would love to do a few more urban type sessions in the future. It was fun…and I hope that Rob and Lauren come up with a “Chill Session Part 2″.

Thanks again guys! It was inspiring. I learned a lot. And it really was a whole lot of fun!
